Well, every young person feels this awkwardness! Its completely and irrelevantly normal. Just be kind to others, but don't be too kind. Just say hey in response, but never let the coversation go on much longer. Just leave if they begin to make you feel uncomfortable. offenders usually ask out of the way questions, like do you have a boyfriend or if your parents are around. Try and avoid this.
