My jaw hurts when I eat...also a clicking sound sometimes?

It started to really hurt today,I've always had the clicking on and off every once in a while...but yeah. Could I have TMJ? What do I do? If I tell the Orthodontist,could they do anything? I also have braces,so could this affect anything...?
