Cats ear mite medicine too much?

So I went to the vet yesterday because my cat has ear mites, ok so he gives me some drops and hes like "Put them in every other day" but I'm reading the label on the drops when I get home and it says "Re-treat at least every 7 days, depending on the severity of the condition but not more frequently than twice a week" so I'm thinking I want to trust the word of the bottle instead of the vet...would you? It wasn't exactly the most upscale vets office....
